Vincent Janssen Injury: Spurs Striker to Miss Luxembourg Match with Concussion
Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen picked up an injury on Wednesday during the Netherlands' 1-1 draw against Belgium in an international friendly. He'll likely miss the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg with a concussion.
Manager Danny Blind confirmed the news after the match, in which Janssen was forced to leave the pitch in the first half after a collision with Belgian goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, per Football-Oranje.com:
Janssen arrived in English football from AZ Alkmaar in the summer with a big reputation, having lit up the Eredivisie with his excellent goalscoring.
At Spurs, the 22-year-old’s primary task has been to lend support to Harry Kane, with the England international shouldering a massive amount of responsibility at the point of the attack. Janssen has already showed enough in his Spurs career to suggest he can excel in this role.
Indeed, Janssen has had no problem adapting to the robust nature of the Premier League, hurling himself into physical battles and pinning opposition defenders down.
