Michigan State Players Raise Fists During National Anthem vs. Wisconsin

Three Michigan State football players have joined in the national anthem protests by raising their fists prior to Saturday's home game against Wisconsin.

According to Kyle Austin of MLive.com, fullback Delton Williams, defensive end Gabe Sherrod and safety Kenney Lyke took part in the demonstration.

While the exact nature of their display was not known before Saturday, Sherrod wrote a message on Twitter earlier in the week, indicating he would do something:

In the same state Friday night, students at Rynearson Stadium held peaceful protest during and after the Wyoming-Eastern Michigan football game after racist graffiti was found on Eastern Michigan's campus earlier in the week.

Michigan State becomes the latest football program to get publicly involved in the national anthem protest that first started with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick last month.

Kaepernick has been taking a knee during the anthem ever since the 49ers' final preseason matchup against San Diego.

After Kaepernick started the movement, several of his teammates started to join him by kneeling or raising their fists before games. Players from around the NFL, college football, WNBA and soccer have also joined in the protest.
