Georgia Bulldogs vs. Ole Miss Rebels Betting Odds, College Football Pick

Georgia owns Ole Miss over their recent series history, winning the last 10 meetings straight up, going 7-3 against the spread. In fact, it's been 20 years since the Rebels beat the Bulldogs. Ole Miss shoots to end that drought when it hosts Georgia on Saturday afternoon in Oxford.

Point spread: The Rebels opened as six-point favorites, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. (Line updates and matchup report)

Why the Georgia Bulldogs can cover the spread

The Bulldogs are 3-0 on this young season, after coming from behind to win at Missouri last week 28-27. Georgia spotted the Tigers the first 10 points of the game, rallied to take a 21-20 lead into halftime, trailed by a touchdown late but got a fourth-down touchdown pass from Jacob Eason to Isaiah McKenzie with 90 seconds left to retake the lead. The Bulldogs then stopped Missouri's last-gasp drive by forcing a fifth Tigers turnover of the night, a fumble near midfield, to secure the victory.

Georgia won third downs against Mizzou, converting nine of 20 into first downs while holding the Tigers to 6-for-16. That helped the Bulldogs dominate time of possession by a 37/23 split.

Georgia opened this season with a 33-24 victory over North Carolina, then took advantage of a defensive score to avoid an upset bid by Nicholls State.

Why the Ole Miss Rebels can cover the spread

Ole Miss is 1-2 on the season, but that's understandable considering who it has played. The Rebels opened the season with a 45-34 loss to Florida State, but they actually led that game 28-6 late in the second quarter, before allowing the Seminoles to rally. Ole Miss beat Wofford 38-13, then lost at home last week to top-ranked Alabama 48-43. Again, though, the Rebs took a large early lead on a good team, only to let it slip away.

Mississippi scored less than two minutes into the game to take a 7-0 lead on the Tide, and upped that to 24-3 shortly before halftime on a fumble returned for a touchdown. Unfortunately, the Rebels let Alabama score twice in the next minute, the second time on an 85-yard punt return that cut the lead to seven at the half.

Ole Miss then gave up a Crimson Tide defensive score on its first series of the second half, fell down by 18 with about five minutes to go, but scored twice late to steal a backdoor cover as 10-point home dogs. For the day, Ole Miss out-gained Alabama 527-492.

Smart pick

Georgia has out-rushed all three of its opponents this season, while the Rebels have been out-rushed in all three of their games. The Bulldogs also own the edge on defense. Plus, they're getting points. The smart money here goes with Georgia.
