Head coach Jim Caldwell declined to comment on whether Levy could miss the rest of the season with his quad injury, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
Per Birkett, the 29-year-old played every defensive snap for the Lions in their Week 1 win over the Indianapolis Colts, but he didn't practice this past week and was inactive for Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans.
Levy's 2015 season ended almost as soon as it began. He battled a hip injury that forced him to miss the first four games but was able to return in Week 5 against Arizona.
Unfortunately, Levy reinjured the hip against the Cardinals and had to undergo surgery that landed him on injured reserve.
Levy had the best year of his career in 2014 with the Lions, recording 121 tackles and 2.5 sacks. They rewarded him with a four-year extension, but the initial return on that investment has not produced dividends.
The Lions are a team in transition, notably on offense with the retirement of Calvin Johnson, but Levy at linebacker alongside Ziggy Ansah on the defensive line gives them a formidable tandem. Coming off his injury-ravaged season, though, his absence is going to be a huge concern for Detroit.
Antwione Williams is Levy's replacement, though he left Sunday's game with a thigh injury and didn't return, per the team, leaving the Lions thin at linebacker.
